App Claims to Improve Your Vision

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- If you're between 40 and 60 years old, one new app claims it could replace your reading glasses.

The app is called "Glasses Off."

It starts with a vision test and after that, the app creates a program for you to train your eyes so you won't need to use reading glasses.

Dr. Michael Gowen with Shenandoah Eye Care said it could help your eyes a little bit, but the effects likely won't last.

"These types of exercises for people also involve straining. And again, the point that I made, is what tissue in the body is it good to strain? Not one. And you have the eye, why would the eye be different? Straining the eye is not a good thing," said Gowen.

Gowen said if the app starts to give you headaches, you should stop using it.
