STAUNTON, Va. - According to developers of a new app, you might be able to read an entire novel in just an hour or two.
The app is called "Spritz" and it claims to cut down reading times by showing one word at a time on screen at rapid speeds.
It allows users to set the speed up from 250 to 1,000 words per minute.
We spoke with Dr. Bruce Dorries, the Associate Professor of Communications at Mary Baldwin College, who says he's skeptical that it actually works.
"We're missing some things that happen when you actually touch a text. We make closer connections or more likely to make connections that help up really understand the words," Dorries says, "I wonder about nuance, context, deeper meaning, cultural significance, if that can be delivered at light speed."
Developers plan to have the app available for android users next Friday.
