RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded $2.3 million for 10 projects in southwestern Virginia.
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced the grants Friday.
Grants of $500,000 each were awarded for classroom lab facilities at Emory and Henry College, a sewer project in Wise County and a building renovation project in the town of St. Paul.
A $289,000 grant will assist a trails center development project in the town of Haysi and a $200,000 grant will go to the New College Foundation's Center of Excellence in Martinsville.
Smaller grants went to five other projects.
