WINCHESTER – A Washington, D.C. man is charged with malicious wounding following a stabbing early Saturday morning.
Just before 1 a.m. Winchester Police Officers responded to a restaurant in the 100 block of North Loudoun Street for a domestic fight. While officers were handling that incident, they were advised that a stabbing had occurred in a separate incident at the restaurant.
The victim, a 24-year-old male from Winchester, was stabbed a number of times in the chest, neck, back, elbow, and wrist. He was taken to Winchester Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
The suspect, Brandyn Smalls, 23, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and released. Smalls was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He was taken to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center and is held without bond.
The incident remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division and charges are pending. If anyone has information they are urged to call the Crime Solvers Hotline at 540-665-TIPS.
