STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Arts and culture are a boost to the local economy in Staunton.

This holiday season, the Staunton Art Center is featuring 70 Virginia artists. The Arts and Gifts event allows artists to show and sell their work.

According to Staunton City Council member Erik Curren, tourism is a crucial part of the economy. Curren said arts and culture are one of the main attractions of the town, generating millions in tax revenue and bringing jobs to the area. This helps keep taxes in Staunton low, according to Curren.
