Three men are in the hospital after an early morning accident on Monday on Interstate 81 near exit 220 in Staunton.
G.D. McCoy, a trooper with Virginia State Police, said the three men were injured while doing construction work on the interstate for Macko Inc., based out of Louisa, VA.
McCoy said a tractor trailer driver swerved to avoid hitting a car when the truck's brakes locked.
The truck then headed toward the construction zone, jackknifed, and hit a sign board near the truck.
One man was in the truck and two were standing outside the truck at the time of the accident.
Mathew Ramsey, William Vest and Glen Brogden were injured in the accident.
Vest and Brogden live in Virginia.
Ramsey has been transferred to the University of Virginia's medical center.
Brogden has been released from Augusta Health; Vest has been transferred to another medical facility.
