STAUNTON -- A local bank is giving back to the community by giving a house to Habitat for Humanity.
Stellar One Bank donated a home on West Johnson Street in Staunton, giving it to Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity.
Rhonda Howdyshell is the program's executive director. She said the house will help with Habitat's efforts on the city's west side.
"Habitat is here because we want to stand in the gap, to make sure that no one is disenfranchised, that everyone has a place at the table and that the community members who have lived here for generations can continue to do so," she said.
The next step, Howdyshell said, is to determine whether Habitat will renovate the house or whether they are better off using the property to build a new one.
