NEW UPDATES: Many of the employees of the nearby Exxon gas station are relieved to hear about the arrest.

Richard Weaver is the assistant store manager at the Exxon gas station and was working Monday. He said the customers and workers were all in shock when they saw police taping off the BB&T. Weaver said he thinks it's amazing that a kid that young would rob a bank.

"Relief, definitely a lot of relief. Definitely don't want somebody like that on the streets. It's seems like the younger generation is not getting the same brought up the same way as the older generation. Kind of disturbing," said Weaver.

Police said there may be a connection to the Bank of America robbery that took place in April. They are still investigating.

Harrisonburg Police Department has arrested the person they believe is in the surveillance footage from Monday's BB&T bank robbery.

Police are not releasing the name because they say he is sixteen years old.

Police charged him with one count of bank robbery early Thursday morning.

He is from Harrisonburg and additional charges are expected.

He is suspected of being involved in a gang, however police are quick to point out they do not believe this robbery to be gang motivated.

Harrisonburg Police Department says they suspect that more people may be involved.

Lieutenant Chris Rush with H.P.D. thinks that the fast response of the community helped lead to the arrest.

"We got a number of anonymous calls, tipster calls, that gave us some good information. Had it not been for that information, we probably wouldn't be where we are in this stage in the investigation." says Chris Rush.

Police say there is similar evidence to the Bank of America robbery but right now they are not calling the cases connected. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
