STAUNTON, Va. - Scott Roberts is the Bar Manager at the Pompeii Lounge in downtown Staunton and he says Saint Patrick's Day brings in big bucks for the bar.
"New Year's and Saint Patrick's are typically our 2 busiest nights of the year," Robert says. "I would say that we probably see a 200 percent increase in business on celebrations like Saint Patrick's Day," he adds.
What concerns him is that forecasters are predicting more snow for this coming Monday which may affect the attendance at many bars in the area.
The brutal winter has already hurt many businesses in the area, so the possibility of more bad weather looming over their head is something they cannot afford.
Roberts says the pending snow will not affect the Pompeii Lounge.
"We're actually celebrating Saint Patrick's Day tomorrow night, instead of Monday night, we want to take advantage of the weekend and bring as many people out as we can," he says.
The snow isn't going to stop party-goers either. James Madison University graduate Dan Dechiara says he goes out every Saint Patrick's Day.
"I live about a block away from the downtown little strip so I just kind of walk down, go to a few bars, then head home," he says.
That's something that might be risky for Dan, but helpful to bars and other businesses who've already been hit hard this year.
