Battlefield Program Gets Kids Involved

NEW MARKET, Va. (WHSV)-- A new travel booklet highlights 24 historic sites throughout the Valley.
The book also includes activities for kids to complete at each historical stop they make.

Terry Heder with the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation says the goal is to teach history in a fun way and encourage kids to continue exploring throughout the Valley.

"We had the good fortune to be able to come across this when we were younger, and have parents and teachers that encouraged that and we want to serve that same role today. We want to build the youngsters the ones that will be supporting these sites and coming out to them fifty years from now," said Heder.

This program just started in the spring.
