A film several years in the making, finally will see the light of day. Beardo The Movie focuses on the World Beard and Moustache Championships. It was featured as a Kickstarter favorite on Thursday and met it target donation amount.
The film was completed in 2009 and shown in festivals around the country. However, constraints have kept the film from being released. The filmmakers started a Kickstarter to raise the money through crowd sourcing. We met up with the producer at Beverley Cigar Shop. He told us how crowd sourcing can change small business.
"As a small business, to be able to take this to fans and people that might be the audience for the documentary has been the motivator behind us going to Kickstarter. So we had the opportunity to take something that was sitting on a shelf, and we always had a special place in our hearts for, but we didn't have a way to get it to market," said Joey Groah, who, despite the pronunciation of his last name, does not have a beard or mustache.
The Kickstarter was fully funded today, but contributing a donation will get you a copy of the DVD.
