HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Hurricane Arthur hit parts of Virginia during the weekend impacting businesses along the coast; however, the clear skies in the Valley led to a boom in business for hotels.
The owners of Stonewall Jackson Inn Bed and Breakfast said they've been booked for months. Normally they have more guests than usual on the Fourth of July, but this year they had to bring in more staff to keep up with all of the guests.
"Friday nights and Saturday nights are always the busiest time of year for any hospitality industry based business. Having the holiday land on a Friday is always a plus," said Johnathan Overby, the assistant innkeeper.
Other local hotels said they saw more reservations this year, but also saw more cancellations. We're not sure of the exact reason.
