Mt. Crawford, Va. (WHSV) --- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County is getting the help they need to continue helping young people in the valley, through a $40,000 grant.

It was provided by the Walmart Foundation and the Virginia State Giving Advisory Council.

Tuesday, a check was handed to a representative with the organization at a Walmart Distribution Center.

"In mentoring with children in lower elementary grades, focused on reading and literacy development. So, this is so important to us, because without this funding we wouldn't be able to continue those efforts," said Susan Totty, the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

As always, Big Brothers Big Sisters is always looking for volunteers to be mentors to the youth in the Valley.
