Within the next two years, riders on the Virginia Mountain bike trail will have a new place to stop when coming through the Valley.
It is called the Stokesville Lodge.
Augusta County zoning officials approved a special-use permit to allow a house and barn in Mt Solon to get transformed into a bunkhouse for cyclists to stop and enjoy the Valley.
“Bicycling is great tourism here in Virginia,” said Co-Owner of Shenandoah Mountain Touring Christopher Scott. “Virginia has incredible mountains, rolling hills and easy fun trails and extremely hard trails. People come from international, all the way around. Harrisonburg's actually designated an international mountain bike association ride center. There's only seven of those in the world.”
Owners are hoping news of the new bunkhouses will spread by word of mouth to the thousands of bikers that hit the trail ever year.
