Harrisonburg -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Doctors on our First Alert Health team tell us that mammograms is the number one prevention for early detection.
Dr. Saied Asfa with Asfa Plastic Surgery tells us that mammograms should be done yearly for woman 40 and older. Also, those who have a medical history of breast cancer in their family.
Dr. Asfa also stresses the importance of getting a mammogram done if you have implants.
Men may also develop breast cancer, but the disease is more common in women.
