HARRISONBURG -- The building at the intersection of Water Street and North Main Street can't seem to keep a business.
The Corner just closed its doors for the last time on Tuesday. It's the seventh restaurant to go out of business in that location.
On Wednesday employees put up the stools for the final time. They cleaned up and got ready to move out.
In the past five years, four restaurants have come and gone. Some say the building is cursed, but local restaurant owners say that location just hasn't found the right fit.
Wes Deviers has lived in the city 30 years. He says he's seen high turnover rates during that time.
"I hope someone can make it go. I hate to see local restaurants fail. It really stinks when franchises, that are still good, but they can succeed just about anywhere, and then local restaurants don't make it. Some day, somebody is going to find something that will work here. Don't know what it is, but they'll get it," said Deviers.
The announcement for another business moving into that spot has not been made.
