Business Slows As It Continues to Snow

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Tuesday's snow took a frosty bite out of business.

Sidewalks that would usually be peppered with shoppers and diners were almost empty. With customers staying indoors, many businesses in Staunton remained closed. Only a handful of stores opened Tuesday as foot traffic was almost nonexistent. Linda Hanna, the owner of The Emporium gift shop, said the winter storm is taking its toll.

"It's not good economically; we have very little business. We have people walking in the snow, wanting to get out and that sort of thing, but not many purchases," said Hanna.

Hanna said she does not want people to take chances and get out in bad weather; however, she did not say if she will open the store tomorrow.
