Businesses Prepare for Snow

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Some businesses in the Valley are preparing for this snow already. Others are waiting to see if they need to do anything on Monday morning. Union Station Restaurant has already put salt down on their stairs.

But others, like the Artful Dodger, are waiting for lower temperatures. Some local stores are out of the salt treatment. On Monday that could mean sidewalks may be slippery.

"Someone slips on their way up, the rest of their experience isn't going to be as well as it could have been," said Cory Eichenblat, the Assistant Manager at Union Station Restaurant.

A worker at Union Station Restaurant in Harrisonburg spent time laying down salt on the stairs up to the business. They also put signs out to warn people that things could be slippery.

Assistant Manager Eichenblat says business isn't as strong when there's snow, but they're ready for it. People in the city are happy to have salt down.

"I'm definitely a little bit clumsy, so I try to be really careful when walking in the snow. But I definitely appreciate it when businesses and even the town will put salt down," said Elizabeth Cummings, who appreciates treatments.

These sidewalks are pretty wet and it doesn't look like there's salt down. Thom Metroka with The Artful Dodger says Lowe's is out of salt treatment.

At Red Front Supermarket says store workers say they didn't get the shipment of salt treatment in they usually do.
