HARRISONBURG, Va -- Stores, like Rose's or Dollar General in downtown Harrisonburg, are two examples of places you can go to take advantage of the tax-free weekend.
Virginia has three tax holidays this year.
Harrisonburg's Renaissance Executive Director Eddie Bumbaugh said all of this is for the greater good of the area.
"The tax free holiday certainly is good,” said Bumbaugh. “We've noticed an increase in the last couple of years in the number of downtown retailers. And we of course want them to be successful. If there are benefits to the consumer for shopping this weekend, ultimately it benefits us all."
School supplies less than $20 per item and clothing less than $100 dollars. The holiday runs from Friday to Sunday.
