SHENANDOAH, Va. -- A producer from a C-SPAN series made his way to the Valley to shoot an episode this week.

It's part of the second season of a show based on all the first ladies, from Martha Washington to Michelle Obama.

Andy Och is the producer of the series, 'First Ladies: Influence and Image.'

Och came to the Shenandoah National Park to shoot part of an episode based on President Hoover's first lady Lou Hoover.

Och says the Hoovers used to vacation in this area.

He says learning more about the first ladies tells you more about the history behind the presidency at that time.

"I think a big part of their story, of these people, specifically these first ladies is to know what they were like before the presidency, after the presidency and during the presidency, but outside of Washington," said Och. "So vacation places like this are a very key part of their stories."

The new season starts September 9 on C-SPAN, and this episode featuring the Valley will air October 14 at 9 PM.
