HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Virginia State Police has the results showing how many summons and arrests were made this holiday weekend.

According to the American Safety Council, Labor Day weekend is one of the most dangerous times of year.

That's one of the reasons that Virginia State Police participated in the combined accident reduction effort, known nationally as C.A.R.E.

Sergeant K.L. Hyden with Virginia State Police says Rockingham County troopers made three D.U.I arrests, six felony arrests and had 10 accidents reported.

"We were extremely busy. We put forth a good effort. I thought the men here did an excellent job in enforcing the law to try to make the highways a safer place for everyone to travel," said Hyden.

Troopers in Rockingham County issued an overall 352 summons and arrests over the Labor Day weekend.
