Cab Company Handles Increase in Calls Due to Weather

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Some of us aren't comfortable driving our own car on the roads right now.

One cab company in Harrisonburg dealing with a huge increase in calls because of road conditions.

Yellow Cab Company dealt with so many calls, they asked people to wait an hour for pick up. With two drivers working, including the owner, the company put priority calls first. Those calls are hospital visits as well as driving people to work.

The calls slowed down on Sunday night.

As for road conditions, Operations Manager Clo Rodeffer said they're playing it safe.

"So if the state or the city says no one's supposed to be out, that includes cab drivers and so we'll make the determination to pull the drivers off the road. No amount of money is worth the cost of a life, it's just not worth it," said Rodeffer.

Dispatch will answer the phones 24 hours a day for the Yellow Cab Company.

Ten drivers are supposed to work on Monday, but that will depend on roads. The ABC Cab Company was closed Sunday due to weather.
