HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- New cancer cases worldwide are expected to skyrocket, according to CNN.
According to the report, lung cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancer.
Dusty Donaldson, the founder of the Dusty Joy Foundation, a non-profit advocacy group, said there are a number of reasons why lung cancer will remain high on the list.
With people doing more preventative screenings, doctors are proactively finding lung cancer early.
Donaldson also said as homes become more energy efficient, ventilation will be restricted, which will also cause an increase in lung cancer.
Also, as the population of baby boomers get into their 40s and 50s, which is when lung cancer is typically spotted, we will see an increase.
