HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- With a new year come changes for businesses in Harrisonburg as Cantrell Avenue is now officially Martin Luther King, Jr. Way.
Harrisonburg Vice Mayor Charles Chenault said the city notified businesses on Cantrell Avenue once about the change; however, one business said the city did not ask for its input before it made a decision.
Dee Anna Orebaugh, the office manager at Emergicare, takes care of the business's paperwork.
Currently, all of Emergicare's documents list the Cantrell Avenue address, including letterheads, business cards and brochures.
Orebaugh doesn't know how much it will cost to make the changes, but said notifying vendors could have a larger impact on the clinic.
"Sometimes it takes a while for the vendors to update. Vendors would include the insurance carriers, those type of people, and that would delay payment coming to us. As they update their systems," said Orebaugh.
She also said it would have helped to know about it before it happened.
"To my knowledge, we have not sat down with anyone directly to discuss how that would have had impacted our business. If we were given that opportunity to sit down with someone I am not knowledgeable of that," said Orebaugh.
Chenault said the city will ask neighbors and businesses about the costs and will look into reimbursing them.
The post office will deliver to an old address up until a year.
