Capito Issues Statement on Giffords' Attack

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., released the following statement in response to reports that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot at an official event in Tucson Saturday:

“I am shocked and horrified upon learning that my friend and colleague Gabby Giffords was shot at an official event in her district today. I strongly condemn this senseless act of violence, and I extend my thoughts and prayers to her family, friends, staff and constituents.”

Reports state that members of Giffords' staff were also injured.
