HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The recent weather is a reminder that winter is here and so are dangerous driving conditions. One thing that you can do to help protect you and your family is to make sure that your tires are in good condition.
A lot of people are unaware that their tires need to be replaced and hold off on this critical purchase. Having your tires checked out by a professional is quick and easy and may save your life. We spoke with Eric from Merchant's Tire to get some tips on what you can look for at home.
He said, "The best thing you can do is always visually look at the tires, a lot of people just look at the outside edge and say they look good but the inside could be bald and you could be down to the chord. A lot of people just check one they really don't check all four tires. And the other important thing is checking the pressure you've gotta make sure the tires have at least 30 pounds, a minimum of 30 pounds, you've gotta be checking that every three months."
He also mentioned, "The term bald Is misleading because tires need to be replaced long before all the tread is gone."
