GROTTOES, Va. (WHSV) -- Hundreds of people enjoyed music and helped a good cause in Grottoes on Saturday. This year's "Caroling in the Caverns" raised more than $1,000.
Groups of people enjoyed musical entertainment and singing at the Grand Caverns. The event is hosted by the Grand Caverns and the Grottoes Ruritan Club.
Money from admission and donations of arts and crafts supplies and games and puzzles for kids will go to the South River Boys and Girls Club. The event is a way to show off the caverns and help one student get a $1,000 Ruritan scholarship.
"To get people in here to see the lovely caverns.. but then also to hear the music that we have going on there.. it's just a wonderful thing for our community and in doing that they're also giving to our community in another way through their donations, which to me is just a real win-win situation," said Mark Keeler, President of the Grottoes Ruritan Club.
This is the third year they've held the event at the Grand Caverns. Kids could also bring donated homemade ornaments to get a free visit to the caverns another time.
