HARRISONBURG, Va -- Public Transportation Director Reggie Smith works throughout the year to try and keep students' cars off the road.
Buses picked up more than 16,000 students on the first day of classes this year. That is almost 20 times more than during the summer months.
Smith talks with students during orientation to help them get familiar with the system. He said there are brochures and instructions all over campus to encourage students to ride the bus.
