HARRISONBURG, Va -- Plans for a hotel and conference center in downtown Harrisonburg are still underway. One company submitted a plan for the building and now city council members want to study those plans.

City council members want to make sure the plan is financially feasible and they also want to make sure the hotel would suit downtown and help the city grow.

“That's something we need to take a hard look at, and I really want to hear what the hospitality industry has to say about it,” said Charles Chenault, a Harrisonburg City Council member. “We'll probably take some measures to do that, assuming we get to that point.”

City council members plan to talk about the proposed hotel at their next meeting in December. That will be when members could approve or deny the plan.
