Harrisonburg, VA – While roadways are now clear in the City of Harrisonburg, many sidewalks are still covered with snow.
An ordinance is in place that requires residents to remove snow from the sidewalk in front of their home or business.
The snow must be removed three hours after the snow stops falling, unless this occurs overnight.
Harrisonburg is a pedestrian-friendly city and snow-covered sidewalks could force pedestrians to walk in the roadway, which would pose a safety hazard.
The Harrisonburg Police Department will remind residents of this ordinance throughout today and will respond to complaints as they are received.
