HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV)-- The investigation into the fire at Clementine Cafe is still ongoing. Two trash cans, not a part of the restaurant, caught on fire.
Harrisonburg Fire Department is still investigating what they believe could be a fire that was set on purpose.
The fire shut down part of South Main Street here for about an hour.
According to the Harrisonburg Fire Department, this was a small fire that is still under investigation.
Mike Comfort, the manager of Clementine's, was on scene when it all started.
"Someone came up and said there's smoke in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom, the trashcan was on fire,' said Comfort, 'We got it put out with a fire extinguisher, took it out back. Simultaneously, someone else came to me in the downstairs ladies room in a storage closet, there was a box of paper towels that one of the rolls of paper towels inside of the box was on fire. It doesn't feel like it was spontaneous combustion to me."
South Main Street was open again to traffic at 5:45 p.m. After the fire was put out, business as usual continued at the cafe.
