Coast Guard Rescues 2 People Off Virginia Coast

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) -- The Coast Guard has rescued two people after a fishing boat took on water off Virginia's coast.

The Coast Guard said Sunday that crewmembers aboard the Lauren Dorothy requested assistance around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The boat began taking on water about 40 miles east of False Cape State Park in Virginia Beach.

A Coast Guard crew hoisted two people from the 53-foot fishing boat onto an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and took them to Air Station Elizabeth City in North Carolina.

The Coast Guard says there are no reported injuries.
