AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va --- Investigators say Rasheda Alestock was allegedly murdered by her roommate, Regina Claud, just yesterday morning in Fishersville. Authorities found both women dead at the scene, in what police say is a murder-suicide.
Deputies are still investigating while her family, coworkers and classmates grieve.
Alestock planned on graduating from Bridgewater College in December. She was a business administration and management major.
College spokeswoman Abbie Parkhurst said that she will be missed at the school.
"We've spoken to some of the business professors, and they can say they know right where she sat in class, and that she was a good student. She was always here and trying to get her work done so she could graduate," said Parkhurst.
Alestock also worked full time. She started working at Burger King when she was only 15-years-old. Then, she worked her way up and managed the Burger King on Greenville Ave in Staunton for the past two years.
"For it to be someone so young and from what we've heard, such a good, hard working student, it is of course really sad."
Investigator Brian Jenkins is one who responded to the call on Sunday night and he said he does not see many cases like this one.
"It's the first one of this nature I've worked, and I've been here 18 years," said Jenkins.
Bridgewater College leaders want to make sure there is enough support for students faculty and staff. They have counselors available for anyone struggling with the loss of Alestock.
"We are opening the chapel tonight so students can come by and light a candle for Rasheda, and reflect on her."
Parkhurst said they are also having a remembrance ceremony Tuesday for Rasheda.
The specific cause is still under investigation but investigators say it stemmed from a personal argument between the two roommates.
