The Harrisonburg Commonwealth's Attorney's office honored good neighbors in the Valley on Friday.

It's part of the attorney office's first citizenship award honoring someone who has helped fight crime.

This year, the award goes to Judy and Hubert Gentry.

They've spent nearly twenty years working for free alongside attorney Marsha Garst.

They've worked to fight crime in the Valley.

Several victims families the attorney's office headed to the presentation.

Hubert said it's everyone's duty to help fight crime in our neighborhood.

"I've always felt that the community, businesses and citizens, have a responsibility to help in prevention of crime, stopping crime, as well as the professional organizations like our police department, our sheriff's office, the commonwealth's attorney's office and the state police," Hubert said.

The office plans to give out similar awards in years to come.
