STAUNTON -- The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is about to get a new president.
Becky Kohler, the current president and she announced her retirement last fall. Since then, more than 50 applicants from across the country were considered.
Day Layman, the associate vice president for Institutional Advancement at Mary Baldwin College, was one of the few local applicants. He has 20 years worth of fundraising experience. Layman is expected to help the organization grow.
“His long term goals for the next five years are to more than double the size of our endowments, so that we can more than double the amount of grants that we give back to the community. He does need to get to know some people before he can really put a strategic plan in place,” said Kohler.
The change in command is expected to happen March 4th during the One Book One Community kick off.
Kohler is expecting to still be involved in the community foundation.
