Thousands across Virginia with concealed handgun permits are being protected. Their identities are no longer public record.
Gun advocates here in the Valley say they agree with the new law that went into effect on Monday.
"Additionally you may have someone that is looking for you or trying to track you down or you may have restraining orders or other domestic issues that type of information can be detrimental to the home," said Dennis Golden, owner of Ashny Arms, a gun store.
He says he'd like to see more laws that protect gun owners.
