HARRISONBURG -- Congressman Bob Goodlatte was in Harrisonburg Tuesday talking about the rising cost of food. He also talked about ethanol, and the growing concern it puts on farmers and consumers.
Congressman Goodlatte spoke at a domino's in Harrisonburg. He says growing food costs are limiting local business.
He also says the increasing cost of gas affects the prices of farmers distributing their crop, and the gas involved in delivering pizzas.
He says requiring corn for ethanol is risky.
"Every year, regardless of the corn production amount, the amount of corn that has to go to produce ethanol goes up. So it directly effects our poultry farmers, beef and dairy as well. But we're here at domino's today because it's also effecting consumers," says Goodlatte.
Congressman Goodlatte says the government is demanding too much ethanol.
