ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- Congressman Bob Goodlatte visited Cargill on Thursday morning to receive an award for his support of manufacturing jobs.
Members of the National Association of Manufacturers and Cargill presented the award to Congressman Goodlatte. They said his voting for pro-manufacturing laws helped him earn the award.
Congressman Goodlatte spoke of the importance of manufacturing and how the Valley has a strong economy. The congressman said this award shows the effort he has put into creating jobs.
“Well I'm very honored to get this award because it's a reflection of the work that I do in listening to my constituents about their concerns about what government can do to promote job creation by fostering a good environment for businesses,” he said.
Congressman Goodlatte also has plans to continue to promote manufacturing in the United States. Some of his goals include protecting trademarks and enforcing immigration laws.
