WAYNESBORO,Va. (WHSV)-- This is a move they hope will spruce up the area and possibly bring more people to the park.
Money from the city of Waynesboro may be used on everything from building more gazebos to improving the pathways in the park.
It's part of the city's plan to pretty much beautify this park and the surrounding area.
The money is part of the city's proposed capital improvements plan.
Part of that draft plan includes $500,000 for the development of the park. A portion of that money will also come from the community block grant.
Among other things, it may be spent on pathway improvements, building a stage for concerts, and building a better connection to the South River.
While some think the proposed plans are good for the area, others have mixed feelings about the proposed changes...
"Do you have to keep within their rules, can it only be used a certain way, can a certain amount of it only go towards, let say the walkways," said Marsha Miller, a park-goer.
"It's well used, I see people out here all the time, I think it's really enhanced the city, I think it's made it something that would attract people to the area," said Cheryl Ciszek, a park-goer.
This is just a proposed plan, but the final public hearing on a portion of that money will take place on Aug. 11.
