Construction Begins on New City Hall Building

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The City of Harrisonburg moved forward today with a new phase of construction of the new municipal building.

The current City Hall has served as the city's main offices since 1967.

Construction began about a month ago, but a portion of the Community Development building was torn down today.

The rest will be demolished after the new city hall is completely constructed. The existing municipal building will stay standing and will be connected ot the new City Hall by a glass atrium.

The project is set to be finished by fall of 2015.
