Crash Involving Log Truck Sends Woman to Hospital

CRAIGSVILLE-- A Craigsville woman is at UVA Medical Center after her car was hit by a log truck.

It happened at the corner of Cemetery Lane and Craig Street in Craigsville when, police say, a sedan driven by Marie Fox pulled out in front of a log truck. The truck did not have time to stop and t-boned Fox's car.

First Sergeant Scott Van Lear said accidents like this serve as a reminder to be alert behind the wheel.

"At any time of the year, any time of the day, it's always sad. But when you drive a motor vehicle, you do take your life into your hands. That's why we say you have to pay attention," Van Lear said. "We do it [drive] every day and therefore it becomes second nature to us, and we don't always give a vehicle the respect it does deserve."

Fox was flown to UVA Medical Center. Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.
