WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that sent an Augusta County man to the hospital with serious injuries.

At approximately 4:50 p.m on Monday, officers responded to the 2000 block of East Main Street where they found a 2008 Honda sedan with extensive front end damage. According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling westbound into the city when it struck a bridge near the entrance to Woodworth Animal Hospital.

The impact caused it to spin 180 degrees. The only occupant, a 23-year-old man from Augusta County, was transported to Augusta Health by ambulance and then airlifted to U. Va. Medical Center with broken bones and a concussion. He has since been released.
