MT. CRAWFORD,Va. (WHSV) -- A creamery in our area wants to bring more customers into its doors which is why it wants to expand the selection of products it sells.
The Mt. Crawford Creamery can only sell products that come from this farm, but it hopes a permit can change that.
Owner Frank Will said he's asking the Board of Supervisors to amend his special permit, which would allow him to offer a variety of products at his country store.
Including produce from local farmers, baked goods and flowers.
He said it would be a win-win situation, giving farmers' products more exposure and also bringing more customers to the creamery.
"It was really good starting out. It has been a little bit slow lately. I don't know if that's just the end of summer, school starting, people busy thinking about other things. We are hoping it picks up soon and we are hoping that this will help it to increase," said Will.
He said he has seen an increase in sales at the stores they distribute products to.
A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors meeting after which the board will decide if the creamery can sell more than milk and butter.
