ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- The county's first on-site creamery will open this Saturday.

Brothers Frank and Kenny Will consider opening the Mount Crawford creamery a dream come true. The brothers hope to benefit from the popularity of the local food movement.

Despite being Virginia's number one dairy county, the brothers say you cannot buy local milk in Rockingham County, so they want to change that.

Five hundred thousand dollars has been invested into the creamery. Everything will be done at the Will farm from milking, pasteurization and bottling.

The brothers plan for Mount Crawford Creamery to be both environmentally sustainable and profitable.

“We do plan to sell right here on the farm. You can come here Saturday and buy your milk right here. You can see the cows it came from. You can see how they are handled. We hope that is one of the selling points, the family atmosphere,” said Frank Will.

The storefront will be open Saturday. Employees plan to sell milk, butter and cream.
