HARRISONBURG, Va.---The project to build a 147-acre park in Harrisonburg is underway. Ramblewood Park extends from Ramblewood Road to Greendale Road.

The lot used to have softball fields and a police training facility. The softball field has been completely cleared away and construction is taking place.

On Wednesday, crews were working on the project which includes pavilions, a play ground, a dog park and much more.

Neighbors said the project has been ongoing for six to eight months. They said they are excited to see the end result.

Neighbor Molly Vanhorn said she does not enjoy the construction throughout the day, especially because it bothers her children.

"We've had to limit their time outside, I mean, when they are actively working and make sure that they're on both of their allergy medicine and change our air filters every three weeks," said Vanhorn.

She said her biggest concern is dust so they have to change the filter more often than four to six weeks.

City of Harrisonburg spokeswoman Mary Hope-Vass said the timeline of the project is unknown because it will likely be completed in separate phases.
