The Harrisonburg Fire Department was called to the RR Donnelley plant around 9:30 Tuesday morning, when they received reports of a fire inside a baler room.

The baler room, in the middle of the building, houses big machines that bundle up all the scrap paper.

Crews were concerned that the fire would spread to the roof. There are vacuums inside the room that suck up dust and the scrap paper. It all ends up on the roof.

Firefighters used access points, created after a recent fire at the plant, to check for flames. They say there were none.

Chief Larry Shifflett says there was no problem for the firefighters today, but there could be a problem for the company.

"Very minimal damage as far as the plant is concerned. It's an interruption in the production process which is probably going to be their biggest cost," Shifflett said.

The fire department was at the plant for about an hour and a half. They say there were people inside of that baler room, but that no one was hurt. No word on what caused the fire in one of those bails.
