DANVILLE, Va. (AP) -- DANVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Danville's post office will reopen in mid-January.
Postal officials told local media that repairs will be made after a safety and health inspection found suspected lead-based paint.
The inspection found chipping paint in back rooms that hadn't been painted since the 1970s.
The 81-year-old post office was closed earlier this month. Sarah Peck, a spokeswoman for U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, was quoted by the Register & Bee (http://bit.ly/1gNTdUp) as saying that his office was told the post office would open by Jan. 17.
