Thousands of delegates from across the country have already arrived in Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention.
This is the first time in several years someone from Harrisonburg is going to the event.
Harrisonburg Democratic Committee Chairman Bill Ney will be there representing Virginia's Sixth Congressional District.
Ney, who said he is thrilled to represent Harrisonburg, plans on going to a forum on the religion issues for the people of the Democratic Party.
He will also go to a small business forum, which is very important to him since he was a businessman for 40 years.
Ney said he is also really looking forward to hearing plans for continuing economic improvement.
"The Republicans seem to deny that job growth has gone up every month for the last three years, and I really believe the government and the economy are heading in the right direction. We don't want to go back to the same government and policies that put us in the predicament we've been in," said Ney.
Ney said when he returns to Harrisonburg, he hopes to bring back the enthusiasm and knowledge he absorbs throughout the week.
