Around 30 democrats watched the first presidential debate at the Obama campaign office in Harrisonburg.
Most at the party volunteer to help reelect the president.
Intern Dalia Desouky said both candidates debated well.
But she said Obama raised better points than Mitt Romney.
"Definitely the point about simple math and how we are supposed to reduce the deficit and how we are supposed to reduce taxes for middle income families. I know my family is a middle income family, my mom is a teacher so these things are very important to us," she said.
She said she has seen some of Obama's policies work first hand.
She said Obama's answers have renewed her support for the president.
Melrose, Massachussets Mayor Rob Dolan was at the event talking to volunteers about working with Romney in his home state.
He said most of the policies Romney claimed to be effective did not work. Dolan told volunteers that the best option for this county is reelecting President Obama.
