Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance is calling all artists in the area.
They need help in creating a new design to represent Downtown Harrisonburg.
The “Design Downtown” contest will accept entries that represent the Downtown area.
In the past the contest was only open to college students, but this year, they have opened it up for all local Harrisonburg artists to participate.
The contest is open until April 27 at 5 p.m.
The winning design will be used on merchandise sold by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance.
“We look at the 'Design Downtown' contest as an opportunity to support the arts and and bring those views into the spotlight. At the same time, we also hope to bring those artists some publicity for themselves as well,” said Promotions Manager Nicole Martorana.
Past winners and entries have been 2-dimensional, but this year, organizers are hoping to see some sculptures and 3-dimension art.
Designs can be submitted on the Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance website.
